While Americans are resorting to Great Depression-era meals to combat rising costs, Sunny Hostin is upset that salmon prices have skyrocketed under President Donald Trump. On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime co-host fired back at the POTUS’s claims that the economy is thriving and prices are dropping under his administration. According to Hostin-who makes a reported $1. 6 million a year on The View and is married to an orthopedic surgeon-she opted not to buy salmon in the grocery store because the already-pricey fish was too expensive. “I just can’t believe he just lies like that,” Hostin said. “It’s still shocking to me to see someone that holds the office of the presidency of the United States lie to the American people over and over. It should not be normal!” While Joy Behar noted that “politicians tend to lie,” she claimed that Trump has gotten to the point of “pathological lying.” “He says prices are going down. When’s the last time you think Donald Trump’s gone to the supermarket?” Hostin wondered. “I was at the supermarket yesterday and I literally decided not to buy salmon because of the price. If I can’t buy it, think about the average American.” Behar, who was seemingly well-aware of how Hostin’s annual earnings compare to those of the average American, sharply reminded the co-host that she “can afford the salmon.” But Hostin doubled down that she “chose not to” purchase the fish because she “thought it was too expensive.” “She wants the Gucci shoes!” Alyssa Farah Griffin called out, suggesting that Hostin would rather put her money elsewhere, like in the hands of a designer brand whose shoes average around $1, 000 per pair. Ah, The View co-hosts. They’re just like us. The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
