Big Time Rush Delays U.S. College Tour Due to Health Concerns

Big Time Rush delivered some disappointing news to fans just before the end of the year. On December 30, the band announced the cancellation of the upcoming U.S. leg of their In Real Life Worldwide Tour.

Dubbed The College Dropout Tour, the 15-date run was set to kick off on January 24 in Champaign, Illinois, and continue through February 13 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The band—consisting of Carlos PenaVega, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Kendall Schmidt—planned to perform at various college campuses across the country. Opening acts Katelyn Tarver and Stephen Kramer Glickman, fellow Big Time Rush co-stars who have been supporting the tour since its summer launch, were also set to join the college performances.

In a statement, the band said, “The tour has taken a toll, and on doctors’ orders we need to pause to focus on our overall health as we’ve all sustained some form of prolonged illness and injuries.” They added that they hope to reschedule the canceled U.S. college dates in the future.

The tour is scheduled to resume on February 17 in Mexico. Fans who purchased tickets to any of the canceled shows will receive refunds through their original point of purchase.

The band expressed gratitude to their fans, stating, “Thank you for your love, patience, and support. We can’t wait to see you on the road again in a few months.”

This announcement comes just over a month after Logan Henderson suffered an on-stage injury during a concert in Poland in November. Henderson injured his leg and required hospital treatment but returned to the stage within a few nights. However, videos from the remaining shows of the European leg—which concluded on December 22 in Copenhagen—show Henderson performing with limited movement compared to his bandmates Carlos PenaVega, Kendall Schmidt, and James Maslow.

Fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery for Henderson and a smooth return to touring for Big Time Rush in the near future.
