“Flesh Without Blood” Singer Grimes Embraces Face Tattoo, Defying Expectations
The eccentric pop artist Grimes, known for her unconventional style and outspoken presence on social media, has added a new and unexpected element to her self-expression: a face tattoo.
Grimes, who often goes against the grain through her fashion choices and controversial opinions shared on Twitter/X—the platform owned by her former partner Elon Musk—recently revealed her latest body art in a series of social media posts.
“I got a face tattoo a few months ago and literally nobody noticed, not even my parents lol. Idky this face tattoo is imperceptible but just for the record it’s my fave tat,” she posted on Twitter/X, surprising many fans.
Expanding on this, the 37-year-old singer explained the tattoo further on Instagram: “Spent like ten years emotionally working up to a face tattoo but I guess I drew on my face too much and literally no one noticed.” She praised her tattoo artist’s innovative approach, noting, “My tattoo artist is onto something truly novel and innovative with her work esp on face tats—there’s a true beauty, delicacy, and innovation here imo.”
This is not Grimes’ first bold venture into body art. In 2021, she got a tattoo covering her entire back, followed by a hand-poked tattoo across her shoulder earlier this March. She reflected on the current tattoo culture, saying, “Feel like tats are in a crazy renaissance period that’s sort of under appreciated atm.”
Once widely celebrated as a groundbreaking musician, Grimes now devotes much of her time to her three children with Elon Musk: X Æ A-Xii (4 years old), Exa Dark Sideræl (3), and Techno “Tau” Mechanicus (3).
Grimes’ choice to add a face tattoo marks yet another chapter in her continually evolving artistic and personal journey, demonstrating her commitment to self-expression in all its forms.
