**The Greater Israel Project Blew Up in Netanyahu’s Face**
I’m not necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with the following analysis by Steve Bannon, but it’s worth considering.
Bannon asserts that the Greater Israel project has “blown up” in what he calls the “Israel First” project. He paints a grim picture for Israel, highlighting that the Muslim Brotherhood, along with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and Turkey, are working together to create what he terms a “proto-Palestinian state.” According to Bannon, Turkey will act as the security force for this emerging entity.
President Trump has publicly stated that “The West Bank will not be annexed,” a position that came after Netanyahu’s attempt to pressure him on the issue. Bannon notes that annexation was never part of Israel’s original plan, and if Israel wishes to pursue annexation, they will have to do so without U.S. support.
Bannon provocatively claims that in just two months, the region has effectively reverted to a form of the Ottoman Empire, which historically took a century to evict. He suggests the necessity of establishing a third state—a Christian state in Israel alongside the existing Israeli and Palestinian states.
It’s worth noting that Bannon omits the fact that President Trump is simultaneously promoting the Abraham Accords and working toward broader peace agreements among nations. While Bannon’s outlook is decidedly pessimistic, it doesn’t necessarily mean he is right or wrong—just a perspective among many.
