Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made a blockbuster return to the company at WrestleMania 38. The American Nightmare had initially been released from the promotion in 2016, before going on to establish himself on the independent circuit and become the global star he is today.
More than three years since his return, fans are beginning to grow tired of his character and are clamoring for him to turn heel. Cody has been a face since his time in AEW, and after over six years, fans are eager to see him embrace the dark side.
WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long recently revealed a simple storyline that could be used to turn Cody Rhodes heel — but it requires his half-brother, Dustin Rhodes, to be involved. Long suggested that WWE could use the former Goldust if they manage to bring him over to the company and build a storyline based on sibling rivalry and jealousy.
“He’s there if you need him. You can, you know what I mean? That’s family right there. So that’s so easy to do. You show the jealousy— ‘You know, I’ve hated you ever since, you know, I grew up with you. I just hadn’t been able to tell you, but now I can express myself. You know, my father, he’s not here to hear this, you know. Now, I can say it,'” Long said.
Cody and Dustin were together in AEW when the company started. The two brothers even wrestled on the first-ever AEW event, Double or Nothing 2019. Their match is still considered one of the best in the promotion’s history.
While Cody left All Elite Wrestling in 2022, Dustin remains a part of the company and has previously stated that he would not return to WWE.
