What Are Expeditions in ARC Raiders?
Expeditions are ARC Raiders’ version of resetting your account—a mechanic often referred to as a wipe or prestige in other games. This system is a core part of progression in extraction shooters. ARC Raiders not only sets a lengthy list of requirements for Expeditions but also offers solid rewards for completing them. Here’s everything you need to know about how Expeditions work.
How Expeditions Work
Expeditions in ARC Raiders are an optional, opt-in wipe system where you completely reset most of your game progress. In return, you gain future benefits and help keep the gameplay fresh. You have full control over when you initiate Expeditions, if at all, but be prepared to gather and turn in a large number of items to unlock the privilege.
Once you reach Level 20, Expeditions unlock as a six-stage process. At each stage, you’ll need to find increasing amounts of progressively rarer items to turn in. Completing each stage is essential to move forward. Below is the full list of Expedition item requirements from levels one through six, courtesy of content creator The Motivation.

| Stage 6: Departure | No required items, but the Expedition Departure Window must be active. |
Important Notes on Resources
Items you turn in to progress your Expedition are permanently consumed, so be cautious about depleting your resources needed for future raids. After completing the sixth and final stage, you’ll need to wait for the Expedition Departure Window to open.
As of the game’s launch, the first Departure Window is scheduled for December 2025.
What Happens When You Depart on an Expedition?
Choosing to depart on your Expedition during the Departure Window results in nearly a complete reset of your account. This means you will need to reacquire items, redo quests, and restart the majority of progression tasks.
However, not everything resets. Here’s a full rundown of what you lose and what you keep after departing on an Expedition:
What Resets
- All Stash upgrades
- All Inventory items
- All collected Blueprints
- All Coins in your bank
- All earned player levels (reset back to level one)
- All spent Skill Points
- Your Raider Den
- All Workshop upgrades
- All complete quests
What You Keep
- All unlocked maps
- All unlocked Workshop stations
- All unlocked Codex entries
- All Raider Tokens
- All earned Cred
- All Raider Deck progress
- Your place on active Leaderboards
- Any active Trials
- All earned or purchased Cosmetics
- Any Personal Event progress
- Any bonus Skill Points earned from Expeditions
- Any bonus Stash Slots earned from Expeditions
The Expedition Departure Window lasts seven days after the roughly eight-week preparation period ends. This grace period allows you time to decide whether to depart or collect any final missing items.
Why You Should Complete Expeditions
Embarking on an Expedition is a significant decision, but it comes with valuable rewards. Aside from the reset itself, completing Expeditions grants you:
- Permanent account unlocks for each completed Expedition
- Unique cosmetic rewards per Expedition
- Account buffs applied during the following Expedition cycle
Sequential completion of Expeditions increases the magnitude of these buffs, up to a maximum. According to the official ARC Raiders blog, you can expect additional perks like XP boosts, more upgrade materials from Scrappy, and better weapon repairs during each Expedition period.
These bonuses last only for the duration of that Expedition cycle—you’ll need to complete another Expedition to regain them or access similar future rewards.
Long-Term Goals and Community Status
Beyond the cosmetics and permanent unlocks, Expeditions offer a great way to breathe new life into ARC Raiders, especially if you’ve already completed most content. Even after the first Departure Window, you’ll find a long-term goal to strive for.
Importantly, Expedition rewards are exclusive. You won’t see them sold in the in-game store, available as Deck rewards, or dropped during raids. They serve as badges of honor and perseverance that you can show off to other players—though what they think of your achievement is another matter.
Is Participating in Expeditions Mandatory?
No—joining Expeditions and resetting your account is completely optional. If you’d rather avoid the wipe, there are still plenty of in-game events and limited-time activities designed to keep the gameplay experience fresh.
