Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is just days away from taking players to the undersea world of Bikini Bottom. However, Sega and Sonic Team have even bigger plans lined up for the game’s first season pass, including the addition of several classic Sega characters revealed during Tuesday’s PlayStation State of Play Japan.
Longtime Sega fans will be excited to see NiGHTS, the iconic lead character from the Sega Saturn cult classic *NiGHTS Into Dreams*, joining the race. NiGHTS will make his debut behind the wheel of the Dream Sleeper Vehicle starting in December.
Following NiGHTS, AiAi from the beloved *Super Monkey Ball* series will jump into the driver’s seat for a January 2026 release. Fans of Sonic’s comic book universe can also look forward to Tangle and Whisper joining the roster as playable characters in February 2026.
Best of all, all of these characters will be added to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for free upon their respective releases, giving players even more ways to enjoy the game without additional cost.
In terms of premium downloadable content, the next big addition to the CrossWorlds Season Pass will bring SpongeBob SquarePants into the racing action. First announced during June’s Kids’ Choice Awards, the SpongeBob pack includes SpongeBob and Patrick as racers, the Patty Wagon vehicle, the Bikini Bottom Course, themed music tracks, and six fun emotes.
The SpongeBob pack now has an official release date: it will be available on Wednesday, November 19, at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET. Get ready to dive into Bikini Bottom and race alongside your favorite Nickelodeon characters very soon!
