WWE legend John Cena recently revealed that he rejected a major idea from the company’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, for his retirement tour. Cena will hang up his boots after one last match on December 13. Ad John Cena only has two dates left on his retirement tour. The Chain Gang Soldier is all set to face Dominik Mysterio in a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames. After this, he will wrestle in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. For The GOAT’s last outing, the Triple H-led creative team is holding a Last Time Is Now Tournament to determine John’s final opponent. Ad Trending Thanks for the submission! During the latest edition of WWE RAW Recap, Cena sat down with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant for a chat. The 17-time World Champion said he loved that WWE was holding a Last Time Is Now Tournament to determine his final opponent. Cena also said he personally called Triple H to make this tournament happen, revealing that he rejected The Game’s idea of dedicating the full December 13 show to him, as he believed the company wouldn’t be able to make everyone happy. So, he wanted to showcase NXT stars against some of the biggest main roster names at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ad “I love the Time Is Now Tournament, that we have some way to earn the chance to be, to qualify as my last opponent. And I really wanna take my hats off to Triple H. I called him up, I said, ‘I got an idea. We gotta do two hours for the tribute show. And if you do a whole John Cena tribute, two things are gonna happen. You’re either gonna go too much or too little. Never gonna please everybody. I would like to propose that we have big-name WWE Superstars fighting exhibition matches vs. the brightest in NXT. So that way we have a sold-out building,'” he said. Ad Cena was hopeful that the whole world would be watching his final outing on December 13, as that would put the spotlight on NXT stars. “Hopefully, the world’s watching on Saturday Night’s Main Event. I get to wrestle one final time but in doing that everyone also gets to look at what to look forward to. I think that’s the most important thing,” he added. If I could do this in infinity, I would do it. I made a promise to the fan base when I started that when I got a step slower, I gotta walk away,” he said.
