Brazil Joins South Africa’s Genocide Case at ICJ Against Israel
Brazil has officially joined South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). While the move is largely symbolic, it signifies that whatever construction emerges from the court’s eventual judgment will be equally binding upon Brazil.
Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently met with Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez at the Planalto Palace in Brasilia, Brazil, on March 6, 2024. The inclusion of Brazil in the case highlights the growing international attention surrounding the issue.
