Several villages along the banks of rivers in Beed district were severely affected by flooding due to heavy rains over the past few days. The rising river water entered villagers’ houses and farms, causing significant crop losses for farmers in the area.
On Thursday, Beed district guardian minister and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar visited several flood-affected villages to inspect the situation firsthand. His itinerary included Pimpalgaon Ghat, Mauje Hingni Khurd, Mauje Aher Chincoli, Khamgaon, Nandur Haveli, and Shiur Kasar taluka’s Khokarmoha and Yewalwadi, as well as Itkur village in Gevrai taluka.
During his visit, Pawar spoke with the villagers and acknowledged the severity of the natural calamity in the district. He assured that the government stands firmly with the affected people, many of whom have become homeless. Immediate directives have been issued to the administration to arrange shelter and food for those in need.
The government has begun providing aid in the form of food grains and financial assistance of ₹5,000 to affected families. Pawar noted that while water levels have reduced considerably, the process of conducting panchnamas — official documentation of losses — will commence the next day. This work will be carried out promptly to ensure that farmers receive compensation once the full extent of damage is assessed.
The India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rains between September 26 and 30. Pawar urged villagers to take necessary precautions during this period to stay safe.
Several officials and dignitaries accompanied the visit, including MLC Vikram Kale, Vijaysingh Pandit, former MLAs Amarsingh Pandit and Sanjay Daund, district collector Vivek Johnson, Zilla Parishad CEO Jatin Rehman, Superintendent of Police Navneet Kawant, sub-divisional officer Kavita Jadhav, tehsildar Chandrakant Shelke, along with Suresh Gholve, Sandeep Khomne, and others.
