The Tribal Development Department has launched a significant initiative to enhance employment opportunities for tribal youth in the industrial sector. Under the leadership of Department Secretary Vijay Waghmare, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Godrej Enterprises and the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC). This collaboration takes place under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme of the Ekalavya Kaushal Vikas Yojana, implemented by the Shabari Tribal Finance and Development Corporation.
Through this agreement, 210 unemployed tribal youths across the state will receive free training in forklift operation and motor driving courses. The MoU signing ceremony was held at Mantralaya in Mumbai, attended by key officials including Secretary Vijay Waghmare, Commissioner and Managing Director of Shabari Tribal Development and Finance Corporation Leena Bansod, General Manager Jayarekha Nikumbh, representatives from Godrej Enterprises, ASDC, UNDP, and Shabari Corporation.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to equip tribal youth with technical skills, government-recognized certificates, and driving licenses aligned with industry requirements. This skill development initiative is expected to open new avenues for direct employment, accelerating the journey of tribal youth toward self-reliance.
Job placements will be facilitated for participants who successfully complete the training by Godrej Enterprises and ASDC. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) along with Shabari Corporation will oversee the effective implementation of this program, ensuring comprehensive support for the trainees.
Secretary Vijay Waghmare emphasized the potential of tribal youth in the state, stating, “The tribal youth have immense potential and determination, but they need proper skill training and industry exposure. Through this training program, we aim to make not only 210 youths but thousands employable in the future.”
Interested tribal youth are encouraged to register online via the ‘Eklavya Kaushalya Yojana’ portal to avail themselves of this valuable training opportunity.
This initiative marks a promising step toward empowering tribal communities through skill development and sustainable employment.
