**What’s the story?**
Aadhav Arjuna, a leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has sparked controversy with a now-deleted post on X in which he urged the youth to revolt against what he called a “wicked government.” The post, criticized by many as incendiary, followed a tragic stampede at a TVK founder Vijay’s rally in Veluchamipuram, Karur, that left 41 people dead.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, police have registered cases against several TVK leaders and arrested TVK Karur West District Secretary Mathiyazhagan.

### Social media backlash: Arjuna’s post sparks outrage
Following the stampede, Arjuna took to X and wrote:
*”If the police have become the servants of the ruling class, the only way to restore order is a youth revolution. Just as in Sri Lanka and Nepal, the youth and the Gen Z generation came together to create a revolution against authority; a youth uprising will occur here too. That uprising is going to be the foundation for regime change and the end of state terrorism.”*
The post was quickly deleted after widespread criticism over its timing and tone.
### Party distances itself from the post
TVK has officially distanced itself from Arjuna’s statement. A party source told NDTV that neither the party nor Vijay supports or endorses the “revolution” advocated by Arjuna.
“The party and Vijay will never instigate people or violence,” the TVK source emphasized.

### Political fallout: DMK responds to controversy
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) condemned Arjuna’s post. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai criticized the TVK leader for calling for a revolution while being embroiled in political controversies and connected to the tragedy.
He stated:
*”A corrupt person caught in the clutches of the Enforcement Directorate is calling for a revolution. Is he dreaming that a revolution can be carried out by paying money and using 100 influencers?”*

### Legal action: Arrests made in ongoing investigations
An FIR related to the stampede alleges that Vijay remained inside his campaign van in Velusamypuram for an extended period during the rally on September 27, leading to restlessness among the crowd.
The FIR mentions the rally was scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM, with Vijay expected to speak at noon, but he only arrived at 7:00 PM.
The arrest of party leader Mathiyazhagan is the first since the stampede. He was found hiding in a house in the Gujiliamparai area before authorities apprehended him.
